DP World a global trade enabler signed a concession agreement for 25years with the Government of Rwanda in 2016 to develop & operate the “Kigali Logistics Platform”. This first inland dry port in East Africa was inaugurated on 21 October 2019 by H.E. President Paul Kagame and DP World Group Chairman H.E. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem.
Since the start of operations in 2018, DP World Kigali has managed to reduce the cost of logistics services in the region through its end to end logistics solutions including long haul transportation, efficient operations, faster truck-turnaround times, automation, a dedicated Inland Container Terminal (ICT), Bonded & Non Bonded Warehousing and one stop centre which connects all logistics players in one place.
Ideally located at the outskirts of Kigali City and just 11km from Kigali International Airport, due to its location serves as the supply chain hub for the businesses reducing the heavy traffic congestion in the CBD area. DP World Kigali in its first phase development spans over an area of 13.8 hectares, including a 12,000-square meter container yard and a 30 000 square-meter of warehousing facility. The terminal is designed in compliance with the international standards.
The facility connects with the port of Mombasa and Dar Es Salaam securing two international trade gateways with a yearly throughput capacity to handle 350,000 ton of cargo and 50,000 TEU per year.
DP World Kigali has deployed state-of-the-art technologies to ensure maximum security and transparency for our customers. The facility is monitored 24/7 by CCTV and customers can access real-time tracking of their goods through mobile and online portals.
